Did you know that regular Cow’s milk is bad for dogs? Cow’s milk is pasteurized. Pasteurization is used to kill off harmful bacteria in the milk. The milk is heated to a temperature where the bacteria can’t survive. While this process makes the cow’s milk safe for us to drink, it also makes it so it’s not good for dogs.

One of the enzymes dogs need to break down the lactose in milk is called lactase. Lactase is one of the enzymes that is lost in the pasteurization process. Without this enzyme, dogs can experience symptoms associated with lactose intolerance.

However, raw goat milk contains the lactase enzyme, allowing the dogs body to properly break down the lactose.

Not only is goat’s milk safe, its healthy for dogs! Goat’s milk is loaded with probiotics that help to support digestion by increasing the population of healthy bacteria in your dog’s digestive tract.

It’s also said to help with malnourished dogs, allergies in some dogs, digestive issues, dogs on antibiotics, kitten and pups weaning from their mothers and pets transitioning from kibble to raw food.

We have raw goat milk available in both Woodstock and Sarnia locations.
